A tough start
It was a tough start to the thirds campaign against a well organised and drilled second team from IES. The first 10 minutes was difficult to watch with the visitors taking complete control of the game and scoring 3 quick goals whilst the home side seemed to just be chasing the game. A welcome drinks break after 20 minutes on a very hot day gave the team an opportunity to reflect and look to hold onto the ball for longer and try and string more than a couple of passes together. It paid off and the second quarter was much more even with a deflection ensuring that Alex Gospel’s shot on goal crossed the line to open the home teams scoring. A further goal from the visitors saw the first half ending 4-1.
The second half saw the better performance continue and further goal from Rob Spackman from the top of the D was matched with another from IES. The last 10 minutes saw Sudbury starting to really tire from their early chase of the game and lack lustre passing, but the game ended 5-2. A massive thanks goes to the man of the match match, Marcus North for his goal keeping as it could have easily been a much bigger beating had it not been for some exceptional saves from the young keeper.
